MEDVEŠEK

GAŠPER

Gašper Medvešek is an architect and teacher at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana, where he teaches Architectural Workshop, Design Studio 5, History and Theory of Architecture 3 within the Department of History, Theory, and Renovation. After graduating in 2001, he has continued to combine teaching with practice.

Alongside his academic work, he develops a wide range of architectural projects and has received several national awards. Among them are the Golden Pencils of the Chamber for Architecture for the project Stražišče Gymnasium near Kranj (2019) and for the RCERO Ljubljana complex (2017), both in collaboration with Studio Plan B. He has also been nominated multiple times for the Plečnik Award, including for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cetinje (2014) and a residential development on Sernčeva Street in Maribor (2008). His work spans infrastructure, public, and residential buildings, always seeking a balance between architectural innovation, sustainable approaches, and sensitivity to context.

An important dimension of his practice is humanitarian and development work in Africa, where he has participated as a mentor in the construction of educational facilities in Gambia, South Africa, and Uganda.

As both an architect and educator, Medvešek is committed to connecting academia and practice—to creating spaces that respect heritage, advance contemporary architectural solutions, and contribute to the common good. His work unites an educational mission, an award-winning architectural practice, and a sense of responsibility to society.
